Things can get really awkward when you end up with countless windows on your screen. You won't have enough space for everything and you won't know what is what. Fortunately, there are many solutions to this issue online. One of them is WindowTop, which brings a rather novel approach. It places a number of useful controls on all windows, which should make it a bit easier to manage everything.

WindowTop works on Windows 7 and all later versions, up to Win 10, though you may have problems with Metro apps. It can be installed in just a few seconds, without making any complex configurations along the way. Also, there are no special requirements you have to meet and you don't need powerful hardware.

When launched, the application will place new options on all windows, regardless if they are application interfaces or simple Explorer windows. They are neatly tucked away on the title bar, so you will never feel them way up in your face. Obviously, each button serves a different purpose. Also, they will only affect the window they are on. So you can enable certain features on one window and different functions on another.

The first button allows you to make the window transparent and you can even tick an option if you wish to be able o click through the window. The next options can be used to make the window stay on top of everything else, minimize it and invert its colors. The minimization options is particularly interesting. Instead of sending the window to the task bar, the application will shrink the window and leave it on the screen. The window will appear as a thumbnail on the screen, with no corespondent on the task bar. You can clicking and drag it anywhere on the screen and you can maximize it with a single regular click.

Of course, if you don't want to look for the buttons and click them each time you wish to do something, you can use keyboard shortcuts instead. What's more, if you right click the application's system tray icon, you will find options for disabling certain features on all affected windows at once, so you don't have to go through each window and disable them one by one.

Regardless of how many windows you have on your screen, with WindowTop, a few clicks is all it takes to bring order to chaos.

Pros

You can change the opacity of your windows, click through them and set them on top of everything. The options for these actions are located on all windows and they are easy to find. The application works quietly in the background, without using too many resources.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to address.
